The holidays have come and gone with their usual whirlwind. With so much going on, it’s a tough time to stay centered and focused. But every year, the early days of January offer an opportunity to sit back, reflect on the season, and figure out what we really want to do with our lives. (After all, isn’t that what New Year’s Resolutions are about?) Our pets can help with that reflection process. Remember, they’re tuned into us all the time more than you might realize, and can show us through their behavior and health the things that are important.
According to the Animal Heart’s Talk Blog, “Did you know that animals mirror you in mind, body and spirit? They Reflect US. Animals are spiritual teachers, and are at times barometers of our souls! So when we have a problem, THEY talk to us. The question is: Are we listening!?”
In many respects, our pets are our best friends. They’re around us all the time. They see our private personas and they see our public personas. We don’t hide our true selves when we’re around them and even if we did, they would be able to break down that facade. They’re tuned into our thoughts, feel what we’re feeling, and can act out our fear, anxiety, and anger, as well as our happiness and joy. Think of them as mirrors bouncing the truth back at us. We just have to open our eyes, ears, and heart to recognize it.
In this post-holiday season as we hunker down and renew ourselves for the year to come, take the time to have a conversation with your pet. I guarantee it will open your eyes. Call or e-mail me to schedule a consultation.
